Woza Awards 2020 has been postponed to August 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lockdown measures across Africa witnessed women legal practitioners champion many
issues on the rule of law, policy, access to justice and the role of the judiciary and legal
practitioners. Additionally, catalysing initiatives for financial assistance and stimulus
packages to support the financially vulnerable in the profession.
Woza Awards through this pandemic adversity recognise the opportunity to
acknowledge and celebrate the sterling strides, contributions, educational efforts and
assistance to gender based violence victims , made by women legal practitioners in the

1. COVID-19 Legal Eagle Any practitioner/firm/institution who has
played a significant role in educating, disseminating information and or
creating awareness of the Regulations and Directives where the
information kept us abreast of changes or worked tirelessly behind the
scenes to minimize the impact on the profession.
2. COVID-19 Legal Philanthropist A practitioner/firm/institution who has
played a philanthropic role to marginalized people whether through
poverty alleviation or the rendering of pro bono legal services.
3. COVID-19 Gender Based Violence Champion Awards
practitioner/firm/institution who has advanced women’s rights
through the assistance to and the protection of gender-based violence
